Textile Designer AI for Claude

Ask Claude to upscale, repeat, recolour or separate your designs. It runs Textile Designer AI on the image files on your computer and saves the results right next to them.

Works in Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and other MCP apps. Included with every plan in India except Basic Monthly, and with Unlimited plans elsewhere. Runs use your organisation's credits, the same pool as the website.

Ask in plain words

Tell Claude what you want done to a design. It picks the Textile Designer AI tool, or asks you which one when there is a choice.

Nothing runs until you choose

When a tool has modes or settings, Claude asks you one question at a time with the recommended option already selected. Nothing is uploaded or charged until you answer.

Results land next to your file

Finished images, PSDs and vectors are saved in the same folder as your design, and every run is also kept in your Library on textile-designer.ai.

Chain steps in one request

Upscale, make a repeat, then separate into screens: Claude passes each result to the next tool without you exporting anything.

How it works

  1. Install it in your AI app

    One command in Claude Code, or a few lines of config in Claude Desktop, Codex or Cursor. See the steps below.

  2. Connect your account

    Ask Claude to connect to Textile Designer AI, then confirm the short code on textile-designer.ai in your browser.

  3. Ask for what you need

    Point Claude at a design on your computer and say what to do. It asks about modes and settings before anything runs.

  4. Open the result

    Claude shows a preview and the file path. The result is saved next to your design and in your Library.

Things to ask

  • “Connect to Textile Designer AI.”
  • “Make a half-drop repeat of C:\designs\paisley.png at 300 dpi.”
  • “Run Dress to Design on dress.jpg and give me 2 outputs.”
  • “Upscale floral.png 4x, then separate it into 8 screens.”
  • “Which tool should I use for a screen print?”
  • “What would Colourways cost on this design?”

Install

You need Node.js 18 or newer and a Textile Designer AI account. After installing, ask your assistant to “connect to Textile Designer AI”.

Claude Code

Install the plugin, which adds the tools and a short guide Claude uses to pick the right one:

/plugin marketplace add ScientiaAI/textile-designer-ai-claude
/plugin install textile-designer-ai@textile-designer-ai

Or add only the tools with one command in your terminal:

claude mcp add textile-designer-ai -- npx -y @textile-designer-ai/mcp

Claude Desktop

Open Settings, then Developer, then Edit Config, add this to claude_desktop_config.json and restart Claude Desktop:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "textile-designer-ai": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@textile-designer-ai/mcp"]
    }
  }
}

Codex

Add this to ~/.codex/config.toml:

[mcp_servers.textile_designer_ai]
command = "npx"
args = ["-y", "@textile-designer-ai/mcp"]

Cursor

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json, or install it from the Cursor Directory:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "textile-designer-ai": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@textile-designer-ai/mcp"]
    }
  }
}

Questions

Getting started

Which apps does it work in?

Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor, VS Code and other apps that support MCP servers on your computer. It does not work in claude.ai in the browser or in the Claude mobile app yet, because those can only use servers hosted on the internet.

What do I need to install first?

Node.js 18 or newer, which the app uses to start the server, and a Textile Designer AI account. Claude Code users usually have Node.js already. On Windows, if your app cannot find npx, use "npx.cmd" as the command in the config.

Does it cost extra?

There is nothing separate to buy. It follows the same rule as the Photoshop plugin: in India it is included with every plan except Basic Monthly, and outside India with Unlimited plans. Runs use your organisation credits exactly as they do on the website.

Signing in

How do I connect my account?

Ask Claude to connect to Textile Designer AI. It opens textile-designer.ai in your browser with a short code. Sign in, confirm the code, and go back to Claude. New to Textile Designer AI? The same page lets you sign up first.

My code stopped working before I could use it.

Codes are valid for 10 minutes. Ask Claude to connect again to get a fresh one.

How long do I stay signed in, and on how many computers?

Up to 180 days of use. One AI app connection per account at a time: connecting on a second computer signs the first one out. This is separate from the Photoshop plugin, so using both never signs either one out.

Running tools

What does it send to Textile Designer AI?

Only the images you ask it to process and the settings for that run. It does not read your other files or your conversation with Claude. On your computer it stores only your session token, which signing out deletes.

What files can I use?

PNG, JPEG or WebP images up to 80 MB and 5000 x 5000 pixels, as a file path on your computer or an image link.

Will Claude spend credits without asking me?

No run starts until the tool and its mode and settings are settled with you. Ask "what would this cost?" at any time and Claude checks the price without uploading or charging anything.

What happens if I do not have enough credits?

Nothing is uploaded or charged. Claude tells you how many credits the run needs and how many your organisation has, with a link to buy credits or choose a plan.

Where do my results go?

Into the same folder as the image you started from, named after it, so nothing is ever overwritten. Every run is also saved to your Library on textile-designer.ai.

Start in your next conversation

Install it once, connect your account, and ask Claude for your next repeat, colourway or print-ready file.
