Garment to Pattern
Photograph a printed garment and get the print back as a flat design you can edit and reprint.
Extract a pattern →When a print only exists on a finished garment, recreating it usually means tracing around folds, seams, shadows and the body wearing it. Dress to Design takes that photo and returns the print flattened into a 2D textile design, with the garment shape removed. It handles clothes worn by a person, dressed on a mannequin or laid flat, and a phone camera is good enough. Use the result as a starting point for your own development, a digital record of a physical sample, or the base for a reprint.

Real-World Use Cases
Garment exporters and mills
A buyer sends a photo of a dress and asks for the same look. Pull the print off the photo and use it as the base for the production artwork.
Fabric archives
Photograph years of physical samples and finished pieces, and turn each one into a flat digital design your team can search and reuse.
Designers researching trends
Capture prints spotted at fairs and in stores as flat references, then study the motifs, colours and layout for your own collection.
How It Works
Upload the garment photo
PNG, JPEG, TIFF or PSD, up to 50 MB. A clear, well-lit shot where the print is visible.
Choose a mode
Advanced Extraction aims for the highest overall quality. Fine Detail stays closest to the original design and can return several variations.
Download the flat print
Save the extracted design and take it into repeat, recolouring or upscaling tools for production.
Key Features
Folds and body shape removed
The print comes back flat, without the drape, creases and perspective of the photo.
Any kind of garment shot
Works from a model wearing the piece, a mannequin or a flat lay, not only from a fabric swatch.
Phone photos are enough
No studio needed. A sharp, evenly lit phone picture gives the tool what it needs.
Variations to choose from
Fine Detail mode can return up to 4 versions in one run, so you can pick the closest.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I really get a pattern from a photo of someone wearing the dress?
Yes. The tool is built for worn garments as well as mannequins and flat lays. The print needs to be clearly visible in the photo.
What makes a good photo for extraction?
Even light, sharp focus, and as much of the print in view as possible. A normal phone camera is fine.
Which mode should I pick?
Start with Advanced Extraction for the best overall quality. Switch to Fine Detail when accuracy to the original design matters most, or when you want several variations to compare.
Is the extracted pattern ready to print as a repeat?
You get a flat design. To print it on yardage, make it seamless with Repeat Set and, if it is small, enlarge it with Super Scaler or Ready to Print.
