Colorway Generator
Upload one print and get a full range of colorways (or colourways) back from a single run, with a buyer sheet to send.
Generate colorways →A colorway generator gives you the same design in many colour schemes without repainting it. Textile Designer AI splits your print into colour layers and swaps only the colours, so motifs, linework, registration and the repeat never move. You choose how many options you want, the overall mood, how the colours relate to each other and which colours must stay fixed, then add a short brief in plain words. Each option comes back as a complete, coordinated palette rather than a simple hue shift.

From one print to a colorway range
A painterly peony print recoloured into twelve options in one run, with the cream ground pinned so it stays the same on every result.
- 1
The starting print
Soft edges and heavy tonal work, which makes this kind of print slow to recolour by hand.
Upload / colorway_13.pngOriginal peony print with mauve and cream flowers on a sage green ground - 2
The colorways that came back
Twelve full palettes from one run. The pinned cream holds, while the ground and flowers shift together inside one mood.
Results / Colourway 1 to 12Twelve recoloured versions of the peony print in greens, wines, violets, blues, golds and teals with the cream flowers unchanged - 3
Detail check at 1:1
Zoom in and the brushwork matches the original stroke for stroke. Only the colour has changed.

Real-World Use Cases
Surface pattern designers
Offer a licensing client or art director a print in several colour stories without rebuilding each version layer by layer.
Print-on-demand sellers
List the same bestselling design in more colour schemes so shoppers can match it to their room, wardrobe or brand.
Mills, studios and print houses
Answer a buyer asking for other colours the same day: run the range, send the buyer sheet, and only finalise the options they pick.
How It Works
Upload the print
PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 50 MB. Flat-colour and painterly prints give the best results.
Set the range
Pick 6, 12, 24 or 48 options, a mood and a colour story, pin any colours that must not change, and write a short brief.
Choose and download
Review every option and the buyer sheet, then download one, a selection or the whole set as PNG files.
Key Features
Recolour only
The design is never redrawn, so the repeat, registration and fine detail match your original file.
Moods that hold
Fresh pastels, everyday mid tones, rich and deep, bright and bold, dark grounds or quiet neutrals, applied to every option in the run.
Locked colours
Tap the design to pin the ground or a brand colour, and every colorway keeps it exactly.
Buyer sheet included
Turn it on and the run also returns one labelled PNG with every option side by side, ready to email.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a colorway generator?
A tool that produces the same design in a set of different colour schemes. Colorway and colourway mean the same thing; the spelling is just US or UK English.
Does the generator change my design?
No. Only the colours are replaced. Motifs, proportions, spacing and the repeat stay identical to your upload.
How many colorways can I make at once?
Up to 48 in one run, for the same flat price as 6. Very large files allow fewer options per run, and the count you cannot use is greyed out.
How is this different from matching colours to Pantone?
This tool invents new coordinated palettes for a print. To match a design to specific reference colours, see Color Matching.
