Adobe Photoshop plugin
Installation troubleshooting
Fixes for the common ways a .ccx plugin install fails. If you have not downloaded the plugin yet, start from the download page.
Creative Cloud shows an error when you open the .ccx (Mac)
On a Mac, double-clicking the .ccx in your Downloads folder can fail with a generic error even though the file is fine. macOS folder privacy can block Adobe's installer from reading files in Downloads, and the installer reports it as a broken file instead of a permission problem.
- 1Move the .ccx out of Downloads, for example into your home folder or any plain folder like
~/plugin. Do not leave it in Downloads, Desktop, or Documents; those folders are all privacy protected. - 2Double-click the moved file and confirm the install in Creative Cloud.
- 3If you prefer to fix the permission instead: open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Files and Folders, find Adobe Creative Cloud, and allow access to the Downloads folder. Then double-click the .ccx again.
Creative Cloud says there is no compatible app
This happens when the Creative Cloud app has not noticed your Photoshop install yet. The plugin needs Photoshop 2023 (24.0) or newer; check that first in Photoshop under Photoshop → About Photoshop.
- 1Right-click the .ccx file and choose Open With → Unified Plugin Installer Agent. This installs the same file directly, without waiting for Creative Cloud to refresh its app list.
- 2If Unified Plugin Installer Agent is not listed, open the Creative Cloud desktop app, sign in, and wait a minute for it to finish syncing installed apps. Then try the right-click install again.
Install from Terminal (Mac, advanced)
Adobe ships a command line installer with Creative Cloud. It prints a clear success or failure message, which makes it the most reliable way to install when the double-click flow keeps failing.
Open Terminal and run the following, adjusting the path to where your .ccx actually is. The file path must be a full path, not a relative one.
"/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Desktop Common/RemoteComponents/UPI/UnifiedPluginInstallerAgent/UnifiedPluginInstallerAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/UnifiedPluginInstallerAgent" --install "$HOME/plugin/TextileDesigner-Photoshop-1.0.0.ccx"
A successful run prints Installation Successful. You can confirm what is installed with the same command and --list all instead of --install.
Installed, but the panel does not appear in Photoshop
- 1Quit Photoshop fully (Photoshop → Quit Photoshop) and reopen it. Photoshop only picks up newly installed plugins on launch.
- 2Open the panel from Plugins → Designer AI in the menu bar. It does not open on its own after installing.
- 3Confirm your Photoshop version is 24.0 or newer. Older versions do not load the plugin and will not show it in the Plugins menu.
