Install troubleshooting

Adobe Exchange hands the install to the Creative Cloud desktop app on your computer. If that app is closed, signed out, or signed in with a different Adobe ID, the install waits there instead of happening.

   Open the Creative Cloud desktop app and check it is signed in with the same Adobe ID you used on Adobe Exchange.

   Open Stock & Marketplace → Plugins → Manage plugins. Newer builds of Creative Cloud show this as Marketplace → Plugins in the left sidebar, with a Manage plugins link.

   Find Textile Designer AI in the list. If it shows an Install button, click it and wait for it to finish. If it is listed as installed, the install worked: restart Photoshop and open Plugins → Textile Designer AI.

   If it is not in the list at all, go back to Adobe Exchange with the Creative Cloud app open and click Install again. If your machine blocks the Marketplace, use the manual .ccx from the install section instead.

You double-click the .ccx, the Creative Cloud desktop app comes to the front on its home screen, and no install prompt ever appears. Nothing is broken: Creative Cloud handed the plugin to its plugin manager without showing a dialog. The plugin is waiting for you in the plugin list.

   In the Creative Cloud desktop app, open Stock & Marketplace → Plugins → Manage plugins (or Marketplace → Plugins in the left sidebar on newer builds).

   Find Textile Designer AI. If it shows an Install button, click it and wait for it to finish. If it is already listed as installed, there is nothing more to do here.

   Quit Photoshop fully and reopen it, then open the panel from Plugins → Textile Designer AI. The panel never opens on its own.

   If Textile Designer AI is not in the list at all, the file was not handed over. On a Mac, use the Terminal install below, which prints a clear success or failure message.

On a Mac, double-clicking the .ccx in your Downloads folder can fail with a generic error even though the file is fine. macOS folder privacy can block the Creative Cloud installer from reading files in Downloads, and it reports that as a broken file instead of a permission problem.

   Move the .ccx out of Downloads, for example into your home folder or a plain folder like ~/plugin. Do not leave it in Downloads, Desktop or Documents; those folders are all privacy protected.

   Double-click the moved file and confirm the install in Creative Cloud.

   Or fix the permission instead: open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Files and Folders, find Creative Cloud, and allow access to the Downloads folder. Then double-click the .ccx again.

Creative Cloud includes a command line installer. It prints a clear success or failure message, which makes it the most reliable way to install when the double-click keeps failing.

Open Terminal and run the following, adjusting the path to where your .ccx actually is. The file path must be a full path, not a relative one.

A successful run prints Installation Successful. You can check what is installed with the same command and --list all instead of --install.

The plugin needs Photoshop 2023 (24.0) or newer. Check your version under About Photoshop (in the Help menu on Windows, or the Photoshop menu on a Mac). On Photoshop CC 2019 to 2022 on Windows, use the legacy installer instead. On Photoshop CS6 on Windows, use the CS6 edition.

   If your version is new enough, Creative Cloud has probably not noticed it yet. Open the Creative Cloud desktop app, sign in, and wait a minute for it to finish syncing installed apps. Then try the install again.

   With the .ccx, you can also right-click the file and choose Open With → Unified Plugin Installer Agent. This installs the same file directly, without waiting for Creative Cloud to refresh its app list.

   Quit Photoshop fully and reopen it. Photoshop only picks up newly installed plugins when it starts.

   Open the panel from Plugins → Textile Designer AI in the menu bar. It does not open on its own after installing.

   Confirm your Photoshop version is 24.0 or newer. Older versions do not load this plugin; CC 2019 to 2022 need the legacy installer, and CS6 needs the CS6 edition.

The legacy installer for Photoshop CC 2019 to 2022 is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen warns about it the first time you run it. We distribute this installer directly; it is not part of the Adobe Exchange listing.

   Click Run anyway and let the setup finish.

   If the setup says your Photoshop is 2023 or newer, it stops on purpose: install from Adobe Exchange instead.

   Quit Photoshop completely, then open it again.

   In Photoshop CC 2019, 2020 and 2021 open Window → Extensions → Textile Designer AI. In Photoshop 2022 the menu is Window → Extensions (legacy).

   Still missing? Run the setup again. If you use ZXPInstaller, install the .zxp from the legacy section instead.

On Photoshop CS6 the plugin is a script, not a panel, so it never appears under Window or Plugins. The setup copies it into the Presets, Scripts folder of every Photoshop CS6 it finds on your PC. Like the legacy installer, it is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn the first time you run it: click More info, then Run anyway.

   Quit Photoshop CS6 completely, then open it again. Scripts are listed when Photoshop starts.

   Open File → Scripts → Textile Designer AI.

   Not listed? Choose File → Scripts → Browse and open Textile Designer AI.jsx from %LOCALAPPDATA%\TextileDesigner. This happens when Photoshop CS6 is installed somewhere the setup did not look, for example a portable copy on a removable drive.

   To make it permanent, copy Textile Designer AI.jsx and tdhelper.exe from that folder into Presets\Scripts inside your Photoshop CS6 folder, then restart Photoshop.

This is how the CS6 edition works, not a fault. Photoshop CS6 pauses while a script window is open, so you cannot paint or switch documents until you close it. Your runs still finish: the helper program keeps working in the background and the window shows each result as it arrives.

   Connect once, then process every file you need from inside the window using Open file.

   If a run takes longer than 20 minutes the window stops waiting; click Check again to pick up the result. Every finished run is also in your Library on the website.

   Close the window when you are done to get Photoshop back. You stay signed in for next time.
