What the Romans Put on the Floor

This resort shirt's fish are laid stone by stone, from a Roman floor in a garden suburb of Antioch around 220 CE.

A floor from a house in Daphne, the garden suburb of Antioch on the Orontes. Fish were a luxury food for Romans, and the museum reads these sea creatures as a message about the owner's wealth and the food on his table.
